How to install WordPress in a few clicks

You don't have to download WordPress, create a database and upload files by hand. The installer in cPanel does all of it in a couple of minutes.

Installing

1 In cPanel, look for Softaculous Apps Installer (or the WordPress icon) and open it.
2 Click Install on WordPress.
3 Choose the domain, and leave the directory field empty if you want the site at the root (yourdomain.co.mz) rather than in a subfolder.
4 Set the site name, and above all the admin user and a strong password — never leave the suggested "admin".
5 Install. In a minute or two you'll get the site address and the administration address (/wp-admin).

Right after installing

1 Delete themes and plugins you won't use. Unused code is still a way in — see how sites get compromised.
2 Check the site opens over HTTPS. The free certificate is automatic, and you can force it — see how to redirect HTTP to HTTPS.
3 Keep WordPress, themes and plugins updated. This is the single biggest factor in whether a site gets hacked.
Installing over an existing site erases it. If you already have a site in that folder, the installer overwrites it. Take a backup first — see how to restore your data.
Prefer a different application? The same installer offers Joomla, PrestaShop, Moodle and dozens of others, with the same one-click process.

Installed it but the site doesn't open? We'll take a look.
